Be sure everything is aligned properly before reinstalling the
motor assembly.
If the other (driven) gear has some
damaged teeth, you can “reclock” or reposition it so the damaged teeth are not
in mesh with the drive gear when the cover is less than 45 degrees from horizontal.
If the gear touches the case, the unit is bent at the hinge. If you
don’t want any aggravation buy a rebuilt unit from us for only $560, with the
reinforcement kit installed, with a 1 year warranty.
The large metal shaft is keyed to enter the transmission in only
one way.
You will not have to force it. IF it won’t go it is not indexed
properly.
